Originally formed in 1974 as the Virginia Nomad Association, in 1977 the club decided to broaden its interests to all 1955 - 1957 Chevrolet's instead of remaining exclusively a Nomad club. It was at that time that the Virginia Chevy Lovers, Ltd. name was adopted. Although the name has changed, the focus on ’55-’57 Chevy's was the key interest and love of club members for twenty-four years. In 1999 the club voted to include all Chevrolet's from 1955 through 1972. Again in 2018, the club voted to remove the year restriction and open the club to all years.

Besides the club’s annual show, members also meet monthly, routinely participate in a variety of local area car shows and benefits, frequently caravan to more distant shows, events,  cruise-ins, and use their fund raising efforts to support local charitable organizations

Virginia Chevy Lovers, Ltd. continues to grow with members spread geographically from Pennsylvania, Northeastern North Carolina, Virginia’s Eastern Shore, the middle peninsula area of Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay coastline and throughout the Hampton Roads area.  Members come from all walks of life and include farmers, shipyard workers, professional people, and current and former members of the armed forces.  Member vehicles range from a few original/un-restored classics to some seriously modified custom cars and from daily drivers to a few super gold certificate vehicles. Although the majority of members tend to be “baby boomer” generation folks, membership also includes some younger members and members in their 60's.  But regardless of age or number and type of classics owned, all members agree on one thing – Virginia is for lovers and Virginia Chevy Lovers is just for fun!
